Traditional Chinese Medicine Care
Zhen-Sheng Gao, L.Ac., provides individualized Traditional Chinese Medicine care based on each patient's symptoms, history, and presentation. Treatment recommendations vary according to the findings of the initial evaluation.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the primary treatment offered at Oriental Healing Art Institute.
Each treatment is individualized rather than based on a standard set of acupuncture points. Gao selects points according to the patient's presentation and his Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment.
Patients commonly seek acupuncture for pain, persistent symptoms, and other health concerns, as well as for general health and well-being.

Cupping
Cupping is a traditional technique in which specialized cups are placed on the skin to create suction.
Gao may incorporate cupping into a treatment when he determines that it is appropriate for the patient's individual presentation.

Gua Sha
Gua sha is a traditional technique involving gentle, repeated pressure with a smooth-edged instrument over selected areas of the body. It may be incorporated into an individualized Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment when appropriate. |

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique involving the controlled application of heat near selected acupuncture points or areas of the body. Gao may use moxibustion alone or in conjunction with acupuncture according to the patient's TCM presentation. |

Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture combines traditional acupuncture with gentle electrical stimulation applied between selected acupuncture needles.
When appropriate, Gao may incorporate electroacupuncture into an individualized acupuncture treatment.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Traditional Chinese herbal medicine may be recommended as part of an individualized treatment plan.
Gao selects and combines herbs according to the patient's TCM pattern rather than using the same formula for everyone with a particular complaint. Formulas may be modified over time according to the patient's response.
Patients taking medications or receiving other medical treatment should inform Gao and their healthcare providers before beginning an herbal formula.
Herbal formulas are priced separately.
