How long is an acupuncture treatment?
Typically 30 minutes for a treatment, but plan for up to an hour.
What do you wear to your acupuncture treatment?
Wear clothes that are easily removable or easy to roll up out of the way. Undressing is not necessary.
Neck acupuncture: If you're getting acupuncture on your neck, you may be required to remove any jewelry. If you have long hair, it's helpful to pin it up off your neck and back.
Restroom: For your comfort, it's suggested that you empty your bladder before a treatment.

how your care is coordinated:
Our clinic welcomes patients who are ready to engage in a collaborative, respectful healing process. Traditional Chinese Medicine works best when there is patience, openness, and trust in the treatment plan.
Because every condition is unique, treatment unfolds in stages. The practitioner begins with the areas that are most acute or most obstructed, and the plan may evolve as the body responds. For this reason, we do not provide quotes, estimates, or predetermined timelines for healing.
To support our patients, we offer access to a dedicated Patient Care Specialist. This service is available for a fee and provides personalized guidance, answers to questions between appointments, and clear communication about your treatment process. The Patient Care Specialist serves as the liaison between you and the practitioner, ensuring that your concerns are addressed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Clinical questions, treatment progress, and care decisions are discussed directly with the practitioner during scheduled appointments. Outside of appointments, all non‑administrative questions are handled exclusively through the Patient Care Specialist service. We are not able to provide ongoing clinical support by text or phone without enrollment in this service.
We are committed to maintaining a calm, focused environment for all patients. We ask that communication remain respectful and that patients approach treatment with realistic expectations and a willingness to follow the practitioner’s guidance.
If you feel aligned with this approach, we look forward to supporting your healing journey.

do you feel the needles being inserted?
The needles are super fine and are inserted quickly so they don't hurt going in. Points of pain can be tender once the needles are inserted, but this is normal. If you are still, you should remain comfortable. If you feel a needle is uncomfortable, let us know upon insertion. The more tender your pain, the more you may feel the needle in the muscle.
Why are there electrodes being inserted on the needles?
Electroacupuncture increases the effectiveness of the acupuncture treatment. The current is adjusted to your comfort level. Electrical current can only be used on certain parts of the body.
What to expect after the treatment.
It's normal to feel tired after a treatment. It's also normal to feel tenderness a few hours after a treatment, which means the acupuncture treatment is working. The tenderness does not come from insertion of the needles, but rather from muscle manipulation, not unlike the soreness you feel after a hard workout. The discomfort should go away by the next day. If you have any concerns, contact us immediately.
Can someone stay in the room with me?
Yes, of course. We just ask that they are quiet. It can be uncomfortable to talk or laugh while needles are in your body.
Misc.
Cell phones: Feel free to bring your cell up on the treatment table with you.
Nap: Acupuncture can be quite relaxing so feel free to listen to your favorite music and take a nap.
DO NOT get up and walk around with needles in your body. If you have an emergency and need to use the restroom, let the Dr. know first. Call buttons are available. It's important not to interrupt a treatment.
